Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the garden tour?
The gardens are located in the Jefferson City, Missouri area. Garden addresses are printed on the tickets.
Where and when can I buy tickets?
To ensure a pleasant experience for homeowners and reduce traffic and parking concerns, we are limiting the number of tickets sold. Tickets are available online now— the easiest and most convenient way to purchase! Online ticket sales will close at 10:00 PM on Saturday, June 13, or earlier if sold out.
Starting in May, tickets will also be sold by Bittersweet Garden Club members and at the Jefferson City HyVee until 12:00 PM on June 14, the day of the tour, while supplies last.
How does an online ticket purchase work?
When you purchase a ticket online, you’ll immediately receive a confirmation email with a link to download your e-ticket. Print it and bring it to the garden location you selected during checkout. Upon check-in, we’ll exchange your e-ticket for a commemorative fan, which will serve as your admission to each of the following gardens.
How much walking is involved in the garden tour?
The gardens are all private home gardens and are of varying sizes. Often gardens will have slopes and/or steps.
Where should I park?
Park in any legal parking spot on the street. Please do not park in or block homeowners’ driveways.
Should I bring anything with me?
The garden tour is Rain or Shine, so dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. A hat is suggested if it is a sunny day. Consider an umbrella or hooded rain jacket in the event of showers. You might also want to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated as you explore the gardens.
May I bring my child?
Yes, children 12 and under are free. These are private gardens and are not uniformly stroller accessible. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
May I bring my pet?
No, out of respect to the garden owners, we do not allow pets other than official service dogs.
Are there restroom facilities available on the tour?
No, we do not ask the garden owners to open their home to tour participants. Ask Bittersweet members at each garden for the location of the nearest public facility.
